Using the Reins
...with Halter as Hackamore
...with Halter as Lead
...with Bridle and Slobber Straps
...and knots for tying up lead rope end for riding

Connecting Reins to Rope Halter:  
  • Place one end of the reins through the loop on the halter.
  • Pass the end of the reins around behind the fiador knot and back through the loop on the halter. 
  • Pull  to tighten the loop you just created snugly against the loop in the halter.
  • Now one end of the reins is fastened to the halter.  With this accomplished  the reins can be used as a lead rope. 

Connecting Second Rein to Halter:

  • Wrap the second end of the reins around the halter above the fiador knot.  Start at the top and wrap downward so the end of the rope will be at the bottom of the coil.
  • Bring the end of the rope up behind the body of the rope.

  • Place the end of the rope between nose and jaw pieces of the halter above the fiador knot and down through the coil. 
  • Tighten knot snugly by pulling on both ends.
